London Road Models
London Road Models has been designing and manufacturing 4mm etched kits since 1988, when John Redrup produced some etched L&NWR 50′ non corridor carriage kits for the P4 exhibition layout London Road, to provide some much needed stock.
Since then, LRM has grown to provide one of the largest ranges of etched kits available to the 4mm modeller. The emphasis is on the pre-grouping period up to 1923, although the prototypes for many of the models in the range lasted into the post-grouping era of the 1930’s, with a significant number surviving into BR ownership.
Since 1992, a number of other makes of 4mm kits have been absorbed into the London Road Models range. These include:-
- George Norton’s Connoisseurs range of locos and carriages.
- Iain Rice’s Riceworks GER and NBR locomotives.
- Planit Engineering NSR tank locos.
- D&S LNWR NPCS vans and brake vans.
- Bob Williams ‘Aylesbury’ LNWR Samson 2-4-0 and trolley wagon kits.
- Steve Barnfield’s etched NER/LNER loco kits

Masterpiece Falcon Figures
Masterpiece have been producing quality detailed character figures for over 15 years in both 4mm and 7mm scales. The emphasis has been for cab crews in both scales with some specialist figures associated with model railways. They now produce cab crews that are specifically designed to fit the latest super detailed locos from Hornby and Bachman, such as, Schools, T9, King Arthur, Q1, West Country, 3MT, 4MT, 5MT and A4 classes. For the 7mm/ON30 hobbyists there is a new range of figures, which are for the North American or late Victorian period. For this autumn a new range of 0 and 00 seated passengers are being prepared for those who model in the 1960’s era, all the figures are made in lead free pewter and most are available ready hand painted.

Societies and demonstrators
2mm Scale Association & William Smith’s Wharf
The 2mm Scale Association exists to promote and facilitate modelling at the scale of 2mm:1ft. The scale has a long history as the smallest practical finescale standard.
By joining the Association, members gain access to a wealth of knowledge and our exclusive component range designed to enable simple and accurate construction.
Find out how to get started in 2mm FineScale; with the products available from the 2mm Scale Association it’s easier than you might think.
Our component ranges include jigs and alignment tools which remove the guesswork and need for specialist measuring equipment from precision model making. We also produce booklets which explain the construction techniques which have been developed over the years.
To keep our members in touch we produce a bi-monthly magazine and newsletter. For those with access to the internet we offer an email list where members can chat about anything pertinent to 2mm model making.
Jerry Clifford will be showing his exquisite Williasm Smith’s Wharf.
EM Gauge Society
The EM Gauge Society is a UK based international society created to promote and cater for railway modellers working to a scale of 4mm/ft with a track gauge of 18.2mm. We also cater for modellers working to the more demanding Protofour (P4) standards with a track gauge of 18.83mm. The society encourages the use of fine scale standards and provides support and resources to promote this.
Becoming a member of the Society gives you access to the EMGS on-line store, additional resources in the Members Area, a copy of the technical manual (on CD), plus access to back copies of the Newsletter.
The Scalefour Society caters for the needs of railway modellers working to the scale of 4mm/ft (1:76.2), the most popular of the British model railway scales. It promotes and encourages the use of effective modelling techniques and fine scale standards among all 4mm railway modellers with a particular emphasis on the use of scale wheels and track.
Society Members have the benefits of exclusive access to further resources within the site. Membership gives you the Scalefour Digests; a full library of back copies of Scalefour News that can be downloaded; additional technical reference material and much more.
We welcome Roger Sawyer who will be showing how to solder. If you think you can’t solder, it’s likely that no-one has ever shown you. Come and have a try – it’s not as difficult as you might think.
Roy will once again be giving a display of scenic modelling to enhance most layouts, particularly 00 and N gauge. He will be demonstrating how to make trees and other scenic items from everyday materials, where possible giving you the opportunity to try your hand, even the youngsters up to 90 plus can have a go at making a tree or window box etc. so be prepared to spend a while.
Gordon & Maggie Gravett
Master modellers, Gordon and Maggie will be showing how they build their truly superb scenery. Think of Pempoul, Arun Quay and Ditchling Green.
